An independent report finds the industry contributed €1,208 million to GDP from 2018 to 2025 and created about 2,500 jobs.

An independent economic report published by the Malta Film Commission found that the film industry contributed €1,208 million to Malta's GDP between 2018 and 2025, six times more than in 2005–2017. Employment in the sector grew by about 2,500 people, and filming now runs year-round instead of only in season.

The report also found that the government earned more from film activity than it paid out in cash rebates: about €12 million a year more on average, against €3 million a year before 2018. Hotels, restaurants, travel and transport benefited most.
