Shot protected falcon rescued by passer-by in Miżieb

BirdLife Malta says a protected Eurasian Hobby was rescued in Miżieb on Friday evening, just after it was shot and while hunters were searching for it. A government vet confirmed it was shot and the bird is to be admitted for rehabilitation. A similar case was reported last month in Cospicua, and the news comes as proposed changes to hunting penalties are debated.
